Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Center

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation protects 2,000 acres of coastal habitats on Sanibel and Captiva. Founded in 1967, the foundation has helped to maintain the pristine condition of 1,200 acres on Sanibel and 600 acres on Captiva. It has two educational sites in operation. 

Sanibel Island Nature Center

Sanibel Nature Center

Explore 4 miles of trails at the Nature Center on Sanibel that wind through low lying wetlands and offer opportunities to see local wildlife. There is also an indoor exhibit featuring maps, videos, and interactive displays. 

Guided trail tours, shoreline discovery walks, and many other programs are available. 

Nature Center Information

Price: $3 for adults; members and children 17 and under are admitted free. Additional charges may apply to other programs.

Hours vary by season: October through May, weekdays, 8:30am to 4:00pm; June through September, weekdays, 8:30am to 3:00pm; and Saturdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm, December through April.

Native Landscapes and Garden Center

The Native Landscapes and Garden Center is located at the Bailey Homestead Preserve and features a retail store, a garden of native plants, and plant nursery to purchase native flora. 

The center also hosts special programs, walking tours and more.
